What is a good topic for our investigatory project?

my groupmates and i are thinking of an improvised device made from uhmm.. lets say recycled materials or just some materials we can find in our house thats related to physics particularly electromagnetic field. but whats an easy-to-make, not so-common, beneficial device can we make? can u give me ideas? or give me informative sites? thanx
