There's a folder on my desktop that's not getting deleted?

i try to drag this empty folder to the recycle bin and it keeps saying that it cannot be deleted because someone is using a document in that folder, but I don't have anything open on my computer, can someone please help me and give me steps to how I can delete this folder? thanks!
