Desktop files missing / disappeared after uninstalling a driver?

After uninstalling a driver for Samsung mobile device, and restarting I lost most of my desktop files. They just disappeared and I don't know where they are now. I checked the recycle bin and there was nothing. I even showed hidden files and they weren't on the desktop. I used the search bar in the Windows start menu. I even auto-arranged the desktop icons to see if any feel off screen. Any other ideas?
