Help! Why do my pictures keep disappearing?

Recently, everytime I upload pictures, about 5 minutes after they're uploaded and organized...they disappear! I've checked EVERY other picture folder and the recycle bin. Then when I try to re-upload them, my computer won't allow me, because it says they're already there. Any idea where they're going, or how I can stop this from happening?
