Help with re-naming some characters?

Names are a difficult aspect of writing, as doubts seed themselves frequently and stick around while you are trying to write. If you wait to name or re-name your characters until most of your story is complete, it will be easier, as you will 'know' the characters better and be able to decide which name fits. Jake is a rather over-used name these days.
